Is there a benificial potential for the large-scale incorporation of alternative water sourcing technology within the United Kingdom?

Session 14, Paper 2, CIBSE Technical Symposium, John Moores University, Liverpool
11-12 April 2013

This study looks into the potential incorporation of alternative water sourcing technologies for UK buildings. Following research into this subject, it was found that water shortage was commonly a significant issue within a country where there is also a vast level of rainfall across the year. Technologies such as rainwater harvesting is being used advantageously through this situation , however only in small, isolated areas, where further investigation and calculation found that a variety of other existing facilities could also reap this benefit. It concludes that the incorporation of these such technologies are a significant benefit to the current built environment, but will never fulfil their potential unless there is a primary driver for them to be incorporated.
