Section 2.8 Solar and illuminance data Coordinator: T Muneer (since 1990).  Sub-sections:2.8.1 Solar geometry 2.8.2 Sun position.  Since 1990 new, more accurate algorithms have been introduced based on the work of Dr Bernard Yallop (Royal Greenwich Observatory, Cambridge).  Sub-section: 2.8.3 Solar irradiation Only Kew data provided up to 1986.

2001, 2006 editions: Data included for London Manchester and Edinburgh.

2015 edition: Database extended to cover 14 stations.

Present data quality is very good with 99.9% data passing all stages of quality control.
