Register Interest

Medium voltage distribution is a specialised area of power engineering.

The first part, Methods, introduces the basic principles and provides the most common medium voltage distribution techniques relevant to building services engineers.

All On Demand modules and courses have a one year access period. Any training purchased will expire one year after the purchase date.

Learning Outcomes

The On-Demand training courses (in conjunction with the Applications Manuals), are designed to help fill the gap in electrical knowledge in respect of how to safely employ medium voltage (11 kV) for the distribution of electrical power.

The aim is to provide an understanding of a number of key aspects at different design and construction stages of a medium voltage power distribution system to buildings. As such, consideration is given to system design and to the selection and erection of equipment and so give greater confidence to the delegates in the design, operation and maintenance of their medium voltage network designs, including their associated practical aspects.

It is intended that the On-Demand courses will be used by Electrical Consultants, Contractors and other such practitioners in conjunction with the series of Application Manuals (AM18.1 – AM18.5) and other established international wiring standards and relevant codes of practice. It will also be of interest to designers and authorities who, while not directly concerned with the design or installation of electrical systems, must understand the advice offered to them by specialists.

Further, the manual should be of value to those who wish to enhance their knowledge of electrical power and building services engineering.

To pay via invoice, or if you would like purchase a course on behalf of another delegate please complete our booking form.

Trained by the Greater London Council as an Electrical Engineer (1968 – 1979), In 1979 I started lecturing in the design of electrical services and lighting at London South Bank University (previously the Borough Polytechnic).

In 2004 I moved to the Business school to led the Blended-Learning Centre, developing multimedia materials to aid teaching and also leading the Management Science Group.
I retired fully from South Bank University in 2016.

In 2013 I started teaching part-time at Brunel University, London, where I still hold a fractional contact, teaching Electrical Services / Lighting / Medium Voltage Distribution / Heat Exchangers.
